I am trying to put in a new one but I do not know if I have the necessary parts. I also do not know how to connect the wires or if there even is a special way to.

Hello, I am Danny.

Just to let you know there is a company called Metra that makes adapters for the wiring and dash components to make it just plug in and no splicing wires or hacking up dashboard. I have attached the pictures of what they look like. If you already cut wires I can get you the diagrams if needed. Hope this helps and feel free to ask any other questions if needed.
