Car overheating

Looking for a possible problem with why the car continues to overheat. So far I have replace thermostat, water pump and radiator. Radiator was bad. I know I am having a problem removing all the air in the system. If there are any tricks I am happy to try and see if they work. Thank you

There seams to be little to no heat in the cabin. Could this be a problem with the heat exchanger?

Remove the cap on the radiator when the car is cold, make sure the radiator is full of coolant. Start the car and let it run with the cap off. If you see bubbles appearing while the car is running it's possible you have a bad head gasket and that may be the cause of the overheating.

Just to add. There are a couple things that we should check as you may be correct that the no heat is related but that may be a separate issue with the blend door.

Let's start with checking the inlet and outlet heater core hoses. I attached below the documents that show where these are. Just start the engine and let it get hot but not to the point of overheating. Then turn the heat on full and the heater core hoses should be about the same temp and hot to the touch.

If they are not hot then you most likely have an air pocket that could be cause both issues.

At this point you will want to follow the process that I also attached below on how to drain and fill the cooling system. If this is what you are doing and still getting air in the system then try jacking up the corner of the vehicle that is closest to the coolant cap and this try to allow the air out of the system as the air will work its way to the highest point.

So, I broke down and bought a combustion tester, sad to say it went from blue to green in 30 seconds. Head is now sitting on work bench. I will keep you posted on the outcome after it is put back together.

Do you happen to have the timing marks for the Prius? I more concerned with the smaller chain, I want to make sure it is in it correct location before I put the larger chain on.
