I took my car to have it detailed. My remote was working fine when I left it there. Later that day when I picked the car up the remote was not working. I replaced the battery with no results. A few days later I took it to the cadillac dealer and he stated the remote was completely dead, and could not be fixed. It would cost $85 for a new one, plus labor cost for the car to recognize thean remote. Does anyone know what happened to ruin the remote when it was left at the detailer? I believe something happened at the detail shop, as there was never a problem with the remote previously. Jkl8008@netzero. Net

If perhaps the remote was dropped, or suffered some type of shock. There is a transistor, or other electrical component attached to the circuit board that can break loose from it's solder connection and stop working. If it was tested correctly, and the battery shows to have around 3 volts, but still puts out no frequency on any button, than yes it is bad.
