1991 Cadillac Deville V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I own a 91 Caddilac Sedan Deville and my right passenger rear door will not open. I do have child safety locks on the car, but to my memory, they are disarmed, however I wonder if the safey lock on that door is adjusted halfway between locked or unlocked. All I know is that when I opened the door it would work, but I can't seen to get any kind of connection wi\th the door handle, and I can't get it open. Should I call a locksmith? Or is it a way to get it open?

It opens from neither the inside or outside handle? The child lock would only prevent inside release. My guess is that a linkage rod came off, or the latch mechanism has failed. You will probably need to remove the trim panel with the door closed, it is no simple task. You can ask a locksmith if it is possible, if they come out and are still unable, you will probably get charged. It is possible that the lock rod has come off with it in the locked position, a locksmith should then be able to use a slim'jim type tool.
