I have a bad smell coming inside the air vents. Sometime it smells like a bad septic tank other times like something died, but the smell is so strong it makes me sick. I had the care checked out and the mechanics said maybe something crawl in died inside the car. The removed the seats, carpet and dashboard and didn't find nothing. I told them the smell is coming from under the hood more by the passenger compartment filter. Do you know what this could be?

Has the A/C evap core been cleaned yet? Cold be something got sucked into it because thats where fresh air enters the car.

Have the same year and model as you with the same problem, but I have yet to have the dash removed to see if there is anything in there, but I think not. I Have a feeling that it is not caused by a dead animal rather something mechanical. I believe this becasue on a/c descharge hose that alows condensation to be drained from the car would be the only point of entry that say a mouse could get in, but it is not big enough, it the size of a dime!

The fesh air enters the car at the top under where the wiper blades are, cowl vent. Dosent need to be a dead animal, but something may have been sucked into the air inlet, and maybe past the screen, and into the evap core, may have also been sucked up from the recirc door INSDE the car!
