1997 Buick Skylark, Mileage: 98000. When I turn the ignition key, the engine turns over, starts, and then almost immediately turns off; and the anti-theft light on the dashboard lights up. However the manual says this light is associated with the radio. This occurred 2 days before, the battery was disconnected, and after approx. 10 minutes reconnected, and the car worked. This fix did not work this time. I think the problem may lay with the fuel pump? Any ideas?

Hi:
Does the anti theft light come on now? If so, there may be a problem with your key. Does it have a transister in it? If so, you may have to have it taken to a dealer for diagnois and repair. One thing you could check is to see if your not getting both spark and fuel. If both are missing, there is a good chance it's the security system.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Joe
