1995 Buick Regal fuel pump

The check engine light is on. The car sometimes dies while I'm driving it around town. It's gotten harder and harder to start every day. Once it started, it'd be okay the rest of the day until the next morning. Today - it would turn and turn and turn but not go ahead and turn over and start. Mechanic says it's "sparking" okay. They are saying its the fuel pump. I'm a social worker on a VERY limited income. What is the likelihood he is right and what SHOULD it cost? Please make suggestions.

To better assist you can you please tell me if your model is a Custom, Gran Sport or a Limited. Also, can you please tell me your engine size in liter?

Since you are on a limited income, I would still like to see if the car threw any codes. If I told you how would you like to give it a try?

Then with the info above I can still provide an estimate but if the car has a code, it may tell us something different.
