The automatic trunk latch does not work anymore. It will begin to automatically pull the trunk lid down but then it begins to auto open and the lid pops open. Sometimes we have to spend hours just to get it to close again. What is causing this and how can we fix it?

It is probably that actuator that pulls the trunk down. If you want a cheap fix I would use jumper wires and get it to the fully closed position and then just leave it unpluged. Or you can replace the actuator.

Mine quit working yesterday morning. I have an appointment for Tuesday morning to replace the motor.

In the meantime, I have it duct taped shut. I sure am glad my car is silver!

Those actuators have a tendency to stop working. Keep in mind that sometimes it is due to the relay that controls the actuator. The relay is located on the panel right side of the dash.
