I woud suspect that the transmission pressure control solenoid is your problem. When it does this can you shut the car off and then restart it and it will be ok for awhile? If you go to a parts store and have them scan the car for codes you will probably find that is has a p1811 for a max adapt long shift. This code will not turn on the light but when it sets it will comand the transmission to full line pressure and that is why it shifts hard.

Hi Cly thank you for your speedy answer. Yes when I shut the engine off it does reset and will run fine for a while. Do you have to tear the trans apart to replace this part? :D

The sidecover has to be removed in-order to replace the solenoid.
