I recently put my car on a lift on the rear end of the vehicle. And I removed the emergency break and cable. Because the cable wasn't connected anyway. Then once I removed the emergency brake system I started my car while still on the lift on the rear back side of the vehicle. I revved the gas and it stalled out and quit running. I do mention that until this point it was running perfectly fine. Once it had stalled out and shut down I tried to retire the definition and it wouldn't start. When I pour gas in the carburetor the car will start and run but when I go to push the gas it bogs down and quits running. Its down this ever since and I cannot figure out what is wrong.

Good evening.

Yes, it can.

When you set the lift, did you dent the fuel tank?

It sounds like your fuel pump is not working correctly.

I would do a fuel pressure test to verify you have the correct pressure. You need 60-66 pounds of pressure.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the fuel tank.

NOTE: Do Not handle the fuel sender assembly by the fuel pipes. The amount of leverage generated by handling the fuel pipes could damage the joints.

3. Remove the fuel sender assembly retaining ring using the J 39765.
4. Remove the fuel sender assembly and the seal. Discard the seal.

CAUTION: Drain the fuel from the fuel sender assembly into an approved container in order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury. Never store the fuel in an open container.

5. Clean the fuel sender sealing surfaces.
