When I go to stop brake pedal will go to floor. At first I could tap on gas and pressure would come back to stop. Now, sometimes pressing gas will work but sometimes that does not work. What could it be? I am not losing fluid.

First this is a pretty serious issue and we need to resolve it before you continue to drive it.

However, I suspect to start you are low on fluid. So we need to top that off and then start checking for leaks.

If you are not low on fluid then we need to most likely replace the master cylinder but we need to check for leaks first as well.

Once you confirm there are no leaks, I would replace the master cylinder as it is most likely leaking internally. Here is a guide that will help with this:
