Brake lights, & turn signals not work

My son in law replaced the bos down by the brake peddle and we had to put in new fuses and the came on untill after the thrid push on the brakes and then the fuses blew. We are now thinking that it my be in the steering wheel switch. What are your thoughts?

Can you tell me what box was replaced? Was it the brake light switch?
