On acceleration, between 20 and 25 mph, there is a significant vibration in the rear of the car. After 25-27 mph the vibration goes away and the car drives fine, even at hwy speed, no problem, no vibration, it does not vibrate at all during braking, or slowing. It only happens on acceleration. If I accelerate slowly through the 20-25 range there is no vibration or very minimal. It feels like it has to do with the drive train, not the tires, although the rear wheels are out of alignment and the tires are wearing improperly.

The first thing to check, knowing that the alignment and tires need repair, is to see if there is a shifted belt in one of the tires. Jack the rear up, spin the tires by hand and watch for any out of round movement at the tread area.
