2001 BMW 330 Car Won't Start

Battery is fine, did test on cranking amps, car shows 12.5 volts. Lights and dash come on when turning key, does not turn over, makes a kind of "airy" electrical noise when after turning the key. Tried to push start, works sometimes, others not. Sometimes it will start. My key has been tempermental lately also, sometimes I can use the auto lock, sometimes it doesn't work. Could there possibly be something going on with the EWS module. Might I just need a new key?

Oy are describing a classic EWS issue, it could be a faulty key or a bad EWS system issue, scanning for faults with the proprietary BMW software is next to find out if faults are set and what they are.
