When I fully depress the clutch on my 325i 5 speed, it makes a clanking noise that varies with the speed of the drive shaft. Happens whenever the clutch is fully depressed. If I depress only a bit less, I can shift fine without the noise. Transmission otherwise seems fine.

Thanks Jack. Noises can be difficult to diagnose from cyberspace. What you are experiencing is most likely a failed or failing throwout bearing and an inspection will be required to see what is making the noise. Eventually the transmission will need to be removed and the clutch assembly inspected.
