I just took my 2001 BMW 325i (automatic transmission w/ StepTronic) in for its 30,000 mile service. I got a call from the garage saying I need new front brakes and rear tires. After agreeing to have the service performed (unfortunately, I don't have time to shop around), a few days later, the car wouldn't start. I have a couple of questions:
1. Should I need front brakes and rear tires with only 30,000 miles on the car?
2. Is the alternator checked during the 30,000 mile service so that it would have been caught then?
3. Should I need an alternator with only 30,000 miles on the car?
I hate the idea that I got ripped off so I am asking for your help. Thanks! Emtpjill

Answer to question 1 is yes
answer to question 2 is I don't know. It depends on if the alternator is/was faulty
answer to question 3 is it's probably not the alternator
they do fail however, I suspect the battery is bad.
