How can you disable the"check engine" light on the cars dash? I have already had it serviced, and there telling me its normal for it to stay on.

I don't know the exact amount of time required, but a simple way is to "reset" the ECM (the computer/brain of the car) by disconnecting the battery terminals. I generally disconnect them, walk away and make some food, eat, then come back and reconnect them. Yes, many codes will cause the CEL (Check Engine Light) to come on and stay on until the ECM is reset.

I am curious who told you that. If the repairs are done correctly, then the light should not be on after resetting.

Now, though, if, let's say, they didn't reset it, well. Yeah. If this doesn't turn it off, though, it still has a problem.
