1993 BMW 325 Car jerks and check engine light comes on

Whenever I am accelerate and the car is around 1700 to 2200 rpm it will jerk and the check engine light comes on. Sometimes the car will shut off altogether while driving, and sometimes when I stop.

The problem will require the power train control modules to be scanned for stored faults as a first step. A 1993 325 BMW can be scanned with Autologic  or with the factory scan tool/system called a GT-1 or it's clones. If I had to guess, I'd start with the air mass sensor.
