Where would I find the brake switch to either replace and make my brake lights work again? How would I be able to repair the problem?

The brake switch is above the under dash cover, #6 in this link: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=1423&mospid=47322&btnr=35_0183&hg=35&fg=05
As to the work itself, it seems fairly straightforward, a few tools and an half hour should do it.
