1989 BMW 325 Turns over but won't start

Aquired the car not running, car will start with starter fluid but then dies. I figure it may be the fuel pump but what else should I check?

Your guess about the fuel pump is right, I would start with checking it first, try thumping the top of the tank to see if it comes back to life. If bad I would also replace the fuel pump and the main relays too. It is under the rear seat on the right side.
