1987 BMW 325 windows

I figure there is a short somewhere in the wiring. The fuse is fine. The windows do not roll at all and the buttons on the switch's do not illuminate either. Wondering where to start looking and what kind of job I could be looking at( replacing all window wiring or just the shorted section?)

Do I just need to push the button to see if it resets it? If it doesnt work I should test the breaker than?
