I HAVE A 1997 BMW 318 TI. IT IS OVERHEATING, THE COOLANT IS FULL, THE FAN IS WORKING, A MECHANIC SAID IT MAY BE THE THERMOSTAT- WHICH IS WHAT I THOUGHT, BUT WHITE STEAM IS COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE ENGINE, WHERE VISION IS PROHIBITED. IS THIS WHERE THE THERMOSTAT IS LOCATED ON A 318 TI. I AM LOOKING FOR A PICTURE ONLINE THAT SHOWS THE LOCATION OF THE THERMO

HI there,

This will be a coolant leak, you will have to get the cooling system pressure tested to help locate this leak, you should be able to see what is going on with a torch and a mirror, start here.
