The blower motor works intermittently?

I have replaced it twice. After last replacement it worked fine for about 2 months then the problem returned. When not working I can sometimes get it to work by slamming the passenger door or banging the motor itself, sometimes it just starts working by itself. I have checked the wiring connections and they seem tight.

Hello John,

It sounds like either the blower speed controller is going out or you have a bad ground which is located at the right front of the defrost deflector. When the blower is not working test the black wire for power using a test light, if it lights up the ground is bad. This guide can help, and I have included the blower motor wiring diagrams as well so you can see how the system works.

Thank you for the information. Ken L was extremely helpful. I hadn't considered the possibility of a bad ground. I followed his testing procedure, found that the ground was indeed faulty, I was unable to easily fix the original ground due to its location so I ran a new ground. Problem fixed. Saved me a couple of hundred dollars. Again, thank you for the help.
