How to change the air conditioner switch? I do not know how to get to the switch. Could it be a problem with the ignition switch? Moving the air switch to 5 turned off the fan even when the ignition switch was off?

Which fan remains running? The engine cooling fan should remain running for a few minutes.

The fan switch appears to be an integral part of the AC control module behind the dash.

The panel it is mounted behind should have clips that secure it to the dashboard. Our reference doesn't go into the type of detail I need, so I'm going to go off what I remember from my dad's 2000 Silverado.

You'll need to carefully pop the handles off the controls. Then carefully pop the panel loose. Look around, they probably changed things in the 2 year interval. There might be between 2 and 6 Torx head screws holding the trim panel to the dash. After that, my reference shows the module as having two screws and four clips.
