Backfire/transmission not shifting properly

Drives fine. Shifts from first to second then when you would expect it to shift to third it starts to backfire and miss. Back off the throttle a bit and it will shift to third and then it is fine.

This is a classic misfire problem. I would do a full tune up with plug wires. Use all OEM spark plugs and wires. Here is a guide to help you:
