Hi,

I need to know if this is 4wd or 2wd. The problem is likely related to the vehicle speed sensor (VSS). However, I need to confirm the location and how to inspect it. Let me know the engine size as well.

Also, you may want to have the can-bus scanned to see if there is a specific code that will point us in the right direction. CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, all the modules/computers are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will read codes regardless of the module storing them. In this case, it would be the brake control module.

Here is a video showing it being done:

Let me know.

Joe

Thanks sir, this car is a 2Wd and with a 1.8L engine capacity I did scanned it recently and the fault code was P0500 which means (VSS) fault but it never stated whether it's front or rear nor right or left. I then tested the two front VSS, only to get that the front left sensor is not reading anything even when the wheel is rotating. I'm now looking for new VSS to replace it, but first I want to ask if there is still a need to test the other rear wheels speed sensors.

Hi,

The P0500 indicates an error in the circuit. If you are getting no signal from one of the wheel speed sensors, that is what's setting the code. Although you found one sensor bad, it wouldn't hurt to check the others. There is also an input/output speed sensor in the transmission, but I don't think that's the problem at this point because you found a bad sensor.

I'm not sure how you are testing, but here is a link that explains how it's done using a voltmeter or multimeter.

Here is a link explaining how in general one is replaced:

If you look at the attachments below, they are the directions specific to your vehicle for replacement. Hint: When removing the old one, remove the retaining bolt, take a wire brush and clean around where it goes into the hub, and gently wiggle it to remove. You don't want it to break.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
