97 ES300 does not start on first crank

Hi:
Sometime, my 97 ES300 does not start on the first try. It does not do tht all the time but 1 out of 3 times it does it. I put a new battery but no change.

Please help.

What happens when you turn the key?
Nothing,
or
the car cranks long, but doesn't start?

It cranks but does not start and everything stays on. Itry 2nd or 3rd time then it starts. It can happen while engine is hot cold.

For what ever reason, it either doesn't want to give fuel and / or spark. I would check the fuel pressure when the problem happens. IT will be a pain the neck because you don't don'e know when it will happen, but keep a gauge handy and hook it up and watch.

Thanks for the reply. Do you think changing fuel filter could improve the situation. I don't know when the fuel filter was replaced.

ANY Maintenance that is overdue should be done!

My rec. Is fuel filter every 30,000-35000 miles.
