The car usually runs fine but sometimes it wont start. When ths happens there is one loud click, if I push the gear shifter forward it usually works but not today however if I push the key harder into the ignition it works. I dont know if these things are just coincidence. Also a few months ago the check engine lightr was on I got it scanned and said the temp coolant sensor had a curcuit malfuction.

Not sure here, but this is what happens with mine.

I've got a 93 Legacy Auto - sometimes, when putting the car in Park (P), the shifter manages to find a spot that isn't quite in the P position, but still keeps the car parked. If I simply bump the shifter, it clicks into place and the engine starts (as most cars won't start while in gear right?)

My first reaction would be that your two situations aren't linked, however stranger things have happened right?

Hope that helps a little

I had what sound like the same problem with my '91 GT wagon. Turns out it was the starter motor in need of an overhaul. I was shown what was worn out inside, but I can't remember  All I can remember was it was brass coloured.

Cheers
