1989 Grand Am will not start

Was turning corner when service engine soon light came on and car died. Isolated problem to fuel system and worked through everything and replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump, and the car still won't start. Bought Code Reader and could not get it to work. Is there something I can do, or am missing?

What size is the motor? Are you able to check for injector pulse? Let us know!

It is a 2.3L, and I don't know how to check for injector pulse.
