Here are the description and diagnostic procedures.

DTC INDICATOR LIGHT I: AN OPEN IN THE AIR MIX CONTROL MOTOR CIRCUIT

1. Disconnect the air mix control motor 5P connector.

2. Disconnect climate control unit connectors A (12P) and B (20P).

3. Check for continuity between following terminals of climate control unit connectors A (12P) and B (20P) and the air mix control motor 5P connector.

Is there continuity?

YES -Check for loose wires or poor connections at climate control unit connectors A (12P) and B (20P) and at the air mix control motor 5P connector. If the connections are good, substitute a known-good climate control unit, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original climate control unit.

NO -Repair any open in the wire(s) between the climate control unit and the air mix control motor.

To test for continuity, you would need an ohmmeter to probe the two ends of a wire that you are checking.

The connectors are at the air mix motor and climate control panel.
