Engine Performance problem
1993 Acura Legend 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

The car starts and runs good but won't rev over 4000rpm. Acts like it's governed there.

No check engine light is on. I don't know much about the car because I bought from a tow yard as am impound. I have checked for plugged exhuast and checked the fuel pressure. They are both fine. It's such a wierd symtom that I'm at a loss. Thanks.

Symptoms described could be caused by a faulty/out of adjustment TPS or ECM so these are the 2 items next on your list.

When engine stopped revving at 4000 rpm, it just stays or is it hunting as if the engine is starving of fuel?

The engine just cuts out like it hit a rev limiter. It will start again at about 3700, run up to 4000 and repeat.

Have you confirmed that the CEL shows at ignition ON and goes off after 2 seconds and does not come on while driving?

Yes. The check engine comes on normally at start-up. I have now replaced the TPS and the ECU.
