Here's the scenario: The car starts normally and reliably. However, the engine will die (that is, just stop running, no coughing, no sputtering) at random times (at a stop light or accelerating thru an intersection or going 50 mph down the interstate). Up until today, I could slip it into neutral, turn the key, the engine would start right up, put it in drive and keep on going. Now, it is getting a little harder to start back up, but it does start. This will happen several times over the course of 2-3 days and then not happen again for several weeks and then it all starts again. Another piece of info, the check-engine light does not come on.

That may need to go on a scanner to monitor some sensors. There are several things that can do that, crank sensor, cam sensor, a relay that intermittently kicks off. Now that it takes a little bit for it to start up, you need to check it for spark when it dies and you are trying to get it to start back up
