The truck starts up really good but when I go to put it in reverse and put my foot on the gas it won't go, I have to rev it up then it jerks back. I'm able to go same for when I come to a stop sign or red light, I hot the brake and when it's time to go it won't move, I have to keep trying it up then I get a big jerk/shake from the truck and then I'm able to proceed. Please help

Hi,

The first thing it sounds like is the transmission fluid is low. If it has to rev to build pressure, it will bang into gear. Have you checked the fluid level and condition?

If you haven't, here is a link you may find helpful:

If the fluid is in good condition and full, the next thing I need you to do is check for diagnostic trouble codes. This has an OBD1 system and doesn't require a scanner to get codes. Follow this link.

I have two other questions. First, when was the transmission filter last changed, and does the shifter lever feel like it is working properly, not too loose?

Let me know.

Joe
