Put on gauges everything checks good as far as refrigerate goes and pressure. Fans working no leaks. Clutch on compressor works and cold air when you first start car. Lines are also cold. Drive it about 2 or 3 miles and clutch quits and warm air. Let it set for a while and have same scenario.

Hi,

It sounds like it could be a faulty relay. The A/C relay is located in the EMS box under the hood.

See pic 1 and 2 below for locations. Switch the A/C relay with a different one in the box having the same part number. See if that eliminates the issue.

If there isn't one to switch, here is a link that explains how to test a relay.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

Switched out relay with one identical. Just got home from work so the clutch was not working. Clutch still didn't engage with relay switched. I even tried jumping switch and would not engage clutch. But it will probably work after the car cools down.
Thanks,
Larry

Started car this morning air conditioner worked clutch engaged. Let idle for 25 minutes and still working. Drive it for 7 miles, average temperature out of vent was 40 degrees. Outside temperature 58 degrees. Parked car air still working. Shut off air conditioner tried to turn it back on and clutch would not engage. Shut car off and restarted turn air back on still no clutch. This was longer than it normally lasted. I am at a loss. Thanks, Larry

Thanks Joe, I drove the car all the way to work 45 minutes and air worked all the way with the temperature turned all the way down. Stopped once and shut car off and compressor did kick back on down the road a little ways. Tomorrow I will set the temperature in the car and see if it kicks on and off. But I think you got it Thanks again.

Hi,

Thanks for the update and you are very welcome. It is very possible that the relay was failing. However, anything is possible. Hopefully, that will take care of the issue.

Let me know how things turn out for you tomorrow.

Take care,

Joe
