The AC in my son’s vehicle listed above Type S all of a sudden it started to blow hot air, I ran the DTC as per a previous question and it came up with the fail code of “k”. Can anyone tell me what that means please?

Good evening,

Where and how did you get the code K from?

Does the compressor engage?

Did you check the Freon pressures?

Not sure what the K means so are you able to tell me how you retrieved the code?

Also, as for it blowing warm, we need to see if the compressor is even turning on. So turn the engine on and the A/C and lift the hood and see if the compressor comes on. If not, then we need to check to see if it is getting power. If it is then we have other issues so we will need to check pressures.

Here are some guides that will help:

Let me know this and we can go from there. Thanks

Good evening. I used the instructions that an expert “KHLOW 2008“ on this site had placed to obtain the code. The compressor does engage and stays on.

Okay, thanks.

Do you have a set of gauges to read the high and low side Freon pressures with the compressor running? I need those readings to see if the system is working correctly.

I attached the picture and location of the air mix door.

DTC indicator light K: A Problem in the Air Mix Control Linkage, Door, or Motor

1. Test the air mix control motor.

Is the air mix control motor OK?

YES - Substitute a known-good climate control unit, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original climate control unit.

NO - Go to step 2.

2. Remove the air mix control motor.
3. Check the air mix control linkage and door for smooth movement.

Do the air mix control linkage and door move smoothly?

YES - Replace the air mix control motor.

NO - Repair the air mix control linkage or door.
