A/C coolant fan not working

How do I test the coolant fan?

Hi,

I assume you are talking about the electric fan? Some of these have two electric fans or one electric and one viscous fan clutch.

Does the fan come on at all? If you look at the attachment it will turn on based on the temp sensors or the AC being turned on. If it doesn't turn on at all then it could be a number of things. Could be the TIPM, relays, PCM not commanding it on, or the fan motor.

The way to test the motor is to jump power to wire in Pin 1 and 3. These are the command wires. One is the control and the other is the high relay. Clearly when voltage is added the fan should come on. If it doesn't then the fan motor has failed. Let me know if you need more info. Thanks

You can. If you get a wire and jump power from the power side of the relay to the controlled side (pin 87) and the fan comes on then you may have a relay issue.
