got code 304
changed plug and wire and no change. The engine is 5.7, there is really no missing and the check engine light is off and on and mostly comes on while ideling.

I don't have a chart with me right now but I take it that's a #4 misfire code? Can you actually feel it missing or is there just a code? If you can actuall feel it, then lets diagnose it that way instead of chasing the light. Get back with me on that. Include the enging as well. I can't find that info on your post.

I got into an accident a week ago and my rear passenger door has extensive damage that is estimated at $2500 to repair. Now, after a few days, my check engine light came on. Took it to Auto Zone and they say the code that came up is P0420, which said catalyst system low efficiency. Could this be due to the impact of the accident. I've never had my check engine light come on since I have owned the vehicle which is about 4 years. I called my insurance company and they say now that my car is non driveable. I have to take my car in on Monday to see what is going on now.

No 420 is a cat inefficiency code. The precious metals inside are not doing there job anymore. It needs to be replaced. Nothing to do with the accident

My HHR's check engine light is on and Auto Zone said it was a problem with the "purge vent solinoid". I am wondering how expensive a repair is this, I don't know if its covered on my Carmax warrenty, and although I'm not 100% sure, thanks to some pictures on the net I think I located the part on top of the driver's side of the motor. I checked the wires and hoses for damage, but found none.

Sometimes when you get gas and dont' tighten the gas cap you get this code. Try to get it reset and make sure the gas cap clicks 3 times. If it stays out then it's fixed. If not then you'll have to replace the solenoid.

My check engine light has come on. I tightened the gas cap hoping this would resolve the problem but it hasn't.

If the light is on, there is a trouble code stored in the computer. Take the vehicle to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer for you. Most will do it for free. Once you get the trouble code, you will have a good idea where the problem is coming from.

Hello. Jist purchased a 2007 chevrolet HHR LS. Keyless remote has circle symbol? Is this remote start? If yes I tried to remote start HHR the vehicle cycled thru and a check engine symbol came up? It may need reprogramming at dealer if you can't do it. Check battery in key fob first. The round thing is for start but car must be locked prior to hitting that button. Also try another key fob. Then have car scanned for codes to see why light came on

I have a HHR chevy. It's really hard on gas now and shouldn't be. I got over 20 miles to a gallon when I first got it a year ago. And now it's eating gas. We Have changed the plugs but it's still not helping. I've tried putting stuff in the gas and it's not helped. We also put it on a scanner and it's not showing anything. What else would be causing it to eat gas?
