The ticking noise could be a few things. Generally when people describe this type of engine noise it is either an exhaust leak around the manifold very near the exhaust port. If you look at the motor with it running, you may be able to tell where it is coming from by listening and looking for exhasut deposits around each exhaust port at the manifold. When I say, "Exhaust Deposit" I mean the type of stuff you see around the exhaust exit of a bus or old car, kinda sooty or black. Also, look and listen to the area where the exhaust manifold connects to the exhaust.
The other possibility is that a lifter has failed in the engine. Lfters fail after time due to haydraulic failure. This casues them to get, "crushed" and they make a tapping noise becasue the lifter clearance is loose and it taps the cam instead of sliding across it smoothly.
Lastly, the timing chain could be worn. This would also have the syptom of losss of power and the tapping would get worse when you press the acclerator.
Let me knowq the above and I will watch this post and respond ASAP.
