I am Eddy from Kenya. My car automatic gear does not shift to the next gear when driving, it might start by the check engine light going on and the seat belt light. Also going on then the engine revs trying to change to the next gear it slows back and the engine jerks a bit when you press on the accelerator. It does not change to the next gear it stalls a bit then changes. When driving at high speeds at 50km/h it can start the problem. One thing I noted the check engine always comes on with the dashboard flickering. Please help.

This could be a number of things but we need to start with getting the codes. Here is a guide that helps with this?

Once we know the codes we can be sure but this could be as simple as a speed sensor or more complicate as an internal issue.

Here is a guide on a vehicle speed sensor on a comparable vehicle. We don't have a manual on your vehicle so we can't provide specifics but let's start with codes and go from there.

Lastly, we need to make sure the fluid is at the proper level and the condition is good. Here is a guide on how to replace the fluid. If this has not been done in a while we should start with this unless the codes point us in a different direction.
