We rebuilt the heads and bought new gaskets and water and oil pump put it all back together and tried to start it did nothing. All we heard was a click sound coming from fuse box on passenger side kick panel. So we took the fuse panel box off and noticed there was a burnt mark like it had shorted out. So we got a new one and replaced it and then replaced and relays or fuses that were blown. Tried to start and it at lease tried to start but wouldn't fire. We went and rented a machine and it said the PCM didn't match VIN. So we are just going crazy not knowing what's going on.

Hi,

Was the PCM changed? The PCM was programmed for the vehicle it's in. Law mandates it. The goal is to help prevent people from tampering with mileage as well as to prevent vehicle theft. If you didn't replace the PCM, either you have a bad connection, or the PCM has failed.

My concern are the fuses that were blown and the idea that the fuse box was replaced due to damage. I have no idea what was blown or caused what you described as something which looked like a burnt mark. The PCM is very delicate and susceptible to voltages.

Can you tell me the code you retrieved that indicates the issue? Is it a P0630?

Let me know. I suspect at this point, you may need to have it tested by a dealer that has the proper programming software. Chances are, however, it is either a wiring issue or a failed PCM.

Let me know.

Joe

Okay. I hate to say it, but at this point, I feel it will need specialized programming/software to check. Since there were fuse issues and other electrical issues, something may have been damaged. Check to make sure there are no loose connections at the PCM or any damaged wiring. If there isn't, it will need checked.
