Sounds like you have a blend door that may not be working properly

Read the guides below on heater system not working and blend door actuator replacement. They will help you figure this out

I own a 2002 mitsubishi eclipse spyder. The heat only gets hot when car is moving. When you come to a traffic light it turns luke warm. Checked antifreeze which was low. Still didnt fix problem. Just started having problem about a week ago. Heat was always really hot before and even when sitting still.

If coolant level is low, after toping up, check for air trapped in system. Run vehicle and let it cool donw before rechecking the coolant level in radiator.

When I turn the heat/air on you hear a funny noise like a motor going out. As soon as I turn the air/heat off it stops. No smells

Thanks for the question. Sounds to me like more than likely the blower motor is going out possibly. Or some leaves are traped in the ( squirrel cage) the blower motor fan wheel. I would recommend running it to a local shop or tracing down the noise yourself if you like working on cars. Please let us know what happens. Thank you!

Do both heater hoses get hot? If not, you may still hae a restriction in the core. If so, does it have a heater control valve? If it does be sure it is working, if not it may have a blend door (under the dash) problem.
