What could be causing a high fuel consumption?

I have changed the air filter. There is no fuel smell at this time. My mileage indicator goes from 37 miles left in tank to 19 miles left in just a short amount of time. I can actually see the fuel gauge move quickly at certain times. This only happens while in driving operation.

Scan the engine for codes, check the fuel pressure and vacuum leaks. Take choke cleaner and spray around intake where it meest heads/throttle body. Check for a large vacuum hose with hole in it or disconnected
