I WOULD TO FLUSH THE COOLING SYSTEM

The best way to do this is remove the lower and top hose, undo the heater hoses, remove the thermostat and then fully flush out the radiator, block and heater core, fit a new thermostat replace any suspect hoses, added coolant and bleed air from system, run with heater open feel for heat in both heater hoses as to ensure no air trapped in heater.
