2002 Ford Windstar No heat. With noise

My van has stopped heating, while the a/c works. A "thump" developed as well when this happened. My kids call it the the vans heartbeat because literally it thumps like a heartbeat. When the heat or air is on it thumps and it sounds like it is in the dash. I can turn the heat/air settings to off and it will continue to thump some days worse than others. Sometimes I can adjust the front temp dial one way and the rear another (one to heat one to cold) and the thump will slow (again sometimes). Please tell me what I need to do before I have to go wothout heat this winter!

Sounds like one of your blend doors inside the HVAC duct work has went out under the dash.

Its what controls posiiton of the door and where the air goes to get heated or cooled. Its quite an undertaking to take apart the dash to get to it to fix the problem.

I can give you the steps tho if you would like.

Definately sounds like blend door failure. Probably needs new actuator motor.

Step 1 - A heater cannot operate unless the engine is full of coolant/antifreeze. If coolant level is low check the system for leaks.
