I have owned this vehicle since it had 90k miles on it. Since owning this vehicle it has always shifted extremely hard into gear when traveling up hills (only), letting off the gas and then accelerating. The vehicle has already had the transmission rebuilt and the differential has been removed and checked.
Do you believe its the solenoid somehow building up pressure or sticking or something else?

No, if it was it would do it all the time.

Someone missed something when they re built the trans. Accumulator or spring would explain this condition.

Someone remove the differential and inspected?
