My automatic car will not shift out of 2nd gear in the mornings. It shifts fine in the afternoons. I have replaced the transmission fluid and filter but the problem persists. Changed transmission fluid and filter even tried longer warm up but car wont automatically shift out of 2nd gear in the mornings.

Your torque coverter is going bad! Happened 2 me with a ford f 150 started shiffting hard warmed up shiffted fine. Not long after that it wouldnt change from 2nd to 3rd run the codes came back tourqe converter! Thts most likely your problem sure sounds the same? If youve had the fluid changed recently then im positive thats what it is! Your looking at a very expnsive repair job they have to remove the transmission drain all the fluid flush the whole system install new converter put it all back together put in new fluid my advice get rid of it while you still can! Check all related parts gaskets fluid and labor!

Have the codes pulled and see if that is the specific issue. It does sound like the tranmission may need a rebuild. The codes can get pulled for free by a local Advance or Auto zone parts store. That will rule out other possibilities like a bad pump or a failing shift solenoid.
