I recently purchased a 2002 corvette the engine compartment looked clean, but when I pulled off the fuel rail covers the engine had a lot of dirt, grease and sand. What is a safe way to clean the engine. The do it your self car washers have pressure washers is that ok?

You can first use some engine cleaner on the oily spots, make sure you cover the distributor carb with plastic so water does not get in them. You can thenuse a pressure washer on the engine and the engine compartment. Try not to get the water on the altinator. Sometimes the car will start hard the first time if water gets in the distibutor or coil. If that happens dry them off good. If the car still does not start position it so the sun shines on the engine to evaporate any moisture.
