Help! Please!

I have a 2001 vw jetta vr6 and I have been having trouble with it starting everytime. I replaced the battery and it started up fine once or twice and now its doing the same thing. When I try to start the engine it turns over once, if that, and then starts clicking repetatively. What is the problem?

Have the starter checked. Also, make sure the batter cables and terminals are clean, tight, and in good condition. Check to make sure the ground to the engine block is clean and tight.
