2001 Toyota Corolla High fuel consumption

My car is consuming a lot o fuel lately. I have changed the Air flow sensor. A colleague believe that the spark plugs could be the right one for the car. I bought a new two days ago, but is still consumes a lot. The more I drive the more the car consumes fuel.

Is the air filter clean? Has the check engine light come on?

The engine check light is on. I will get the air filter changed.

Only change the air filter if it is dirty. As far as the check engine light, have the computer scanned to identify the trouble codes that are in the computer. Most parts stores will scan it for free.
