I have a 1990 honda accord with 275,000 miles. There are 2 cooling fans and niether of them will turn on. For about a week the one that runs while the motor is on would not turn on but as soon as I shut the car off the other one would kick on. Now they both wont turn on. Help! What could this be?

Try the a/c, when you turn it on the fan should run on the A/C coolant radiator. If it does not, then try not wiring the fan straight to the battery. If it runs, the sensor is bad. Same story with the radiator on the cooling system.

I am having a very similar problem with my 98 honda civic, 117,000 miles. I noticed the temp guage moving erratically and when I turned on the heat, it would go back to its normal temp. Then I noticed that the fans were not turning on at all. I got in an accident about a month ago, with some mild to moderate damage to the front center, and it has since been repaired. Could the shop have missed something, or is it just a problem with the fan?

If the fans do not come on, hook them straight to the battery to test them. If they run then the sensor is faulty or the fuse is bad.
